TMSS Medical College & Rafatullah Community Hospital
Year of Establishment: 1995
The ancient city of Pundro Bordnan from Mongolian civilization is now named Bogura Town. Bogura town is famous for the monument to Mohasthan Gor in Bangladesh. All of the government hospitals and private clinics are in the southern part of the town. The distressed and underprivileged villagers of the northern part of the town had suffered from illness, and they were deprived of treatment from the mentioned health centers. From this feeling, Professor Dr. Hosne- Ara Begum, the founder Executive Director of TMSS, established Rafatullah Community Hospital (RCH) in 1995 in the middle of Mohasthan Gor at Thengamara village, which is six kilometers away from the northern side of Bogura town. This hospital was established through the financial assistance of Terre des Homes-Netherlands with the approval of the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Bangladesh. Initially, it was established as a 10-bed secondary-level philanthropic hospital with the aim of delivering healthcare services to the poor, destitute, and general population of this region at an affordable cost. As per the conditions of the Medical College operational policy, this hospital emerged as a 250-bed TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital in 2008 to operate medical graduate courses in MBBS and BDS.
Gradually, this hospital became an 850-bed tertiary-level hospital in 2012. The approval of 1000 beds is in process. Currently, this hospital operates all its activities from a nineteen-story building (total floor space: 720000 sq. ft.) on its own 1.69 acres of land. Presently, this hospital provides general treatments to patients through OPD and IPD services, specialized health services, mother-and-child healthcare services, EPI and family planning services, major and minor surgical operations, radiology, and pathology services. Specialized and graduate doctors provide good-quality healthcare services round-the-clock at low cost, subsidy, or free of charge, especially for poor and extremely poor patients. Beside these, the hospital provides instant medical treatments to casualty (accidental, injured) patients through its emergency management unit. The hospital also provides practical learning facilities to students who are studying at various medical educational institutes under the TMSS Health Sector.
